About EMG:
Elevated Mountain Guides is hiring for summer program support! EMG is a nonprofit organization based out of SLC, UT committed to fostering personal growth in participants through rock climbing. Our programs focus on building self-efficacy, resilience, trust, and leadership by practicing experiential learning and challenge by choice. We are a small nonprofit with only a few employees on our payroll, though we are growing quickly and anticipating a full calendar this summer!
Position Description:
As Program Assistant/ Single Pitch Instructor, you will be responsible for helping with participant transportation for programs, helping to facilitate the session, belaying participants using our supportive belay techniques, managing safety at the crag, and providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all involved. We are looking for people who are dedicated to EMG’s mission, sticklers for safety, and willing to help participants of all ages overcome their fears. An open mind and empathy are a must! Our programs run Monday through Thursday from roughly 9am-3pm, so you must be available for one full session per week in June and July. Pay is $15-20 per hour for Program Assistants, and $20-25 per hour for SPIs depending on experience.
Qualifications:
Must hold CPR/ First Aid certification at a minimum, WFA or WFR is preferred
AMGA SPI Certification is required for Instructors, but not Program Assistants
Climbing and top-rope belaying experience is helpful, but not required (we’ll teach you all you need to know)
Wilderness therapy experience is helpful due to the nature of our programs, but not required
Priority will be given to those that have volunteered with EMG in the past, or are familiar with our mission
